It's suffering from a case of "Bent Rod", this is the same disease that ended Ron Jeremy's career 5 years ago. Apparently the over rev bent up a valve rod VERY SLIGHTLY. So, the tech advised me to drive it @ 6000 RPMs for about 15 minutes straight. He told me that this could maybe bend it back in to place. We'll see.... on the rally of course!!!

The advice that the tech gave seems odd. It's your car (and wallet), but be very careful about driving that across the country!

You mean bent valve stem? Only rods I know are connecting rods, and push rods...and I know your car doesn't have the latter.

...I've never ever heard any advice like that. I can't off hand think how it could hurt other than shaving that valve a little or maybe rattling something apart in your engine.

Consider a second opinion? Did he open up your engine? Or is that an assumption based on you telling him your over revved it and it's making a light ticking sound?
