oH god....

That poor poor car has a horrible story behind it.

A guy sent it to evolve.

They took his money

Had a magazine beat up on the car...

Evolve beat up the car..

Sent it back to him.

With a blown enigne. The guy was without his car for 8 months. I think its still in peices...

I'll admit, it was and could have been a bad ass car.

Then Evolve got involved. They've got this ego that won't fit through the door, and for what? Making show cars out of glass? BAH! I SAY! I'll take something that's real-world tried and true anyday over something they've put together in a cad program and then crapped out.

Then there are all the issues I'VE had with Evolve... I'm amazed at how they're still around after the way they treat people.

...ok... I'm done.

Want to see something even more funny?

This was at the Houston Auto Show...

06 S40
Evolve parts -
Exhaust
Downpipe
Intercooler

Non-Evolve Parts:
75 shot of N2O

Horse Power? 300 @ crank

I talked to the Motor Werks guys and the owner insisted on everything being Evolve. They said they had so many problems with the install b/c nothing fit properly, they would've faired better building it custom. After they bolted everything on and he wasn't happy witht he HP, they stuck N2O on it to get it to 300. Funny how he spent SO much money on all of that stuff, when he could've just gone out and bought an R and had 300 to start with! haha

Oh man. It is a shame how stuff like that often works out.

Clean looking car, at least

Yours is much more functional - and still looks great. I'm a sucker for sedans.

Hey, I try not to be down on people in the Volvo community (and other cars too!) b/c we're all in it for the love our cars.

But seriously, so many of these companies think they're all hoyty-toyty. They charge and arm and a leg for parts that are made for pennies on the dollar simply b/c they know (or so they think) we can't get them anywhere else.
(ie: $1500 for a 3.5in downpipe @ Evolve, where as I had one custom made AND ceramic coated for just under $700)

The air box they just released for the hood vents took them like 3 years to come out with, but had been preordering it all along. Promising people that it would be "out soon" the entire time.

Look at all the crap this guy with his S60R went through. He had his motor blown, and now look at where it's at. Sitting around in a shop somewhere.

*grrr* I'm fighting mad! lol! I hate shops and companies that promise people whatever they want to hear and then once they get your money they could care less about you.

Rant Over. haha

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the car's clean as all hell! Owner's a nice guy, too. Met him at one of the local VW meets a while back.

Mine may not be as clean, but mine's daily driven and I beat the ever loving crap out of it on rallies and local roads! lol

I walk into a shop and say "I want X done to my car, and it's gotta stay my daily driver." lol... I usually get some strange looks.

I've read horror stories about that Evolve body kit, too. Something like "it's a nightmare to fit properly, even for experienced body guys."

Again, why pay out the nose for something you're going to have to get reworked for even more money? lol

I only mention it b/c Houston streets are terrible on lowered cars and cars w/ body kits. In fact I just tore up my carbon fiber splitters hitting a dip entering a parking lot.

Makes keeping the daily clean all that more difficult.

Most of the Evolve rumors are true.

The airbox isn't made by them and IPD usa will have one thats the same, except spec'ed with a different filter.

There body kit has improved over time, I ahve one that is awaiting paint and installation, and the quality is pretty good.

As for the other stuff, its pretty non-spectacular.

Sway bars.... Its just metal, i use IPD.
Springs, Eibach made..big deal..
ECU....stay away away...IPD Softloader here.
Downpipe, no thanks, custom 3.5" with no cat here parts, flanges and welding for about 700 total.
Exhaust, Its pretty brainless for a S60r, its a straight pipe, 1 resonator, a bend to the rear muffler canister, and one more bend for the exhaust tip.

Brakes are the true item that I truly want from them. However the calipers are a normal AP racing unit, and the 2 peice rotors are available over the counter.

Anyway.... theyre just like any other typical company. A bit dissapointing for the amount of money they command.

But Kudos for them for making many products that woulnd't have been around for our S60r's.

EVOLVE is a waste of money from all that I have seen.

I perfer IPd.

I gave up on modifying my car after I replaced the transmission and the problem still comes back(If I am running the AC in my car in the summer the transmission error light kicks on but the transmission shifts like normal...This summer I am adding an after-market transmission fluid cleaner and hope that fixes the problem)

My Mod's
-iPd Sport catback Exhaust
-EuroSport Tuning Intake
-iPd Strut brace bar
-iPd Mesh Grill
-35% tint

My stealth mods
-V1 radar detector
-Laser interceptor laser jammer (4 heads, 2 front and 2 rear)
-Tuned Uniden 510xl CB with Wilson 500 antenna
-2x police scanners, 2x Window clip antenna's
-GPS with trapster
-SpeedCheetah GPS Speed/Red light camera detector

My non-stop 25hour NY to VAIL, CO run with 3 friends

Notice the black tape holding up the undercarriage shield. Fucking Possum awemost took it completely off at 70mph in Nebraska

thx Nick, your car is kick ass, so kick ass that I asked my wife if I can buy it, she said if I'd buy it, I'd have to buy a diamond ring equal or more in value.
