I was at Princeton Porsche some time ago and really wasn't very impressed with them as a dealership... Have you tried the other dealership off US-1 by Edison? I liked that place a lot better.
24 hours for a header install is ridiculous. You could pull the motor, use a bolt extractor on all bolts, and put the motor back in in less time than that...
I loved Princeton Porsche. Great dealership. Very helpful and accomodating. Last time I went there, they had me in and out in record time.
lol. Have you ever had to deal with seized bolts?
24 hours is NOT an unusually long amount of time for that job. It has to do with the stock bolts being stuck in there. I've talked to several other porsche mechanics and owners who said the same thing. Even Evolution Motorsports, the manufacturer of the headers, was not surprized.
On my car, PT and Chris tried to get the bolts off of the stock header and the heads of the first three snapped off. It seems (also the diagnosis of Princeton and the mechanic where Tina is now) that all the bolts will have to be tapped out.
Maybe it takes less time on a pos domestic

Not driving a pos domestic, I wouldn't know... I'd use "pos" to describe a car in which every bolt is seized though, but that's just me Its been a while since I worked on something old enough have fastners that had seized up, my memory may not be so good there .
Interestingly enough though, the last car I had to deal with this on was not a domestic, but rather my first car ever, a 1999 Subaru Some of the bolt heads snapped off so I soaked them in PB-Blaster, drilled into the bolts, hammered an EZ-Out into them, and backed them off with the EZ-Out. It took a couple minutes, but then again I wasn't getting paid by the hour to do it, but rather needed it done in time for an autocross, so the motivation to do it quickly was different... Bolts on that car snapped at the hub, exhaust, and suspension components. Almost everything on it was modded (down to a complete engine swap) so I was always working on one thing or another.
Good luck though, all joking aside I really do hope you get those headers on

Get back to us when your pos domestic is a couple years old, son! At least her car doesn't have a chevy logo on it

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm buying a newer one next year... It'll most likely have a Chevy logo since I haven't found a cheaper way to daily drive race bred 600RWHP... If you can think of one though, I'm all ears!

Stop being cheap and go for quality!
Anyway, why not get a saab. They're bred from jets.
we did really try to get those bolts off. It seems to be a regular problem with the older porsches. Those stock bolts just don't want to come out. I'm not arguing too much though. Leaky rear main seals are a known issue of those cars so I'm not too upset with my some of bolts being snugly in place.
What do they say? "A 911 that doesn't leak oil is out of oil"
hahahaha
Sounds like a stand "THIS FUCKING SUCKS" type of problem. As Plabs said, you drilling the old studs out and possibly retapping the threads is what seems to be in order.
Aren't the best how?
Seat comfort is overrated. hahahaha
Comfortwise. Comfort is over rate for some. When I drive I am either going for a quick 5 minute run the store or I am on the highway for 6-7 hours so comfort wins in my book
Alicia, your car is quick and sounds great. Handles well on the track and is fun to drive. Glad to hear the engine isn't blown, and doesn't suck like half the people in this thread. Don't bother with the headers.

We will see about the M3. I'll be putting the long tube headers on tomorrow, as well as pulling the front bumper, so I can install a new A/C condenser and drier.
She will be running straight open headers for about a week until I can get her into my friend's shop to make a new mid pipe. Fun Fun
