Default Suspension Bridge outside of Moab. Circa 1916

On the way into Moab a few of us took an alternate route.

We stopped to take photo's
near the remains of a suspension bridge.

Dewey Bridge was built in 1916
and at the time was the longest suspension bridge in Utah.
It has a fairly interesting history
and in 2000 its condition was restored.

Apparently in '06 a boy playing with matches started a brush fire at a campground that moved up the riverbank and destroyed the bridge.

A local resident snapped some incredible photo's of it burning.

These are the articles and more pictures.

Hahahaha, took the alternate route, stopped, took pictures, made it before most of the field, and got to eat a delicious bbq lunch at the ranch before it closed. One of my proudest days.
