A lot of you have already made great suggestions for changes in AKA Rally 2007. I want to incorporate as many of these suggestions as possible. Please post up ideas for a route, events, changes, etc. I'm all ears.
Chris

"Well, that sucks. That's like a $300 windshield."
Border crossing with 50 cars is not something I think I am willing to coordinate from a logistical standpoint!
Oh, that's fine. We were thinking more like 100 cars for next year.
Why not do the Northern route through Montana? I think seeing Mt Rushmore with rally cars would be fun and can you imagine all the attention we'd get from all the local girls who've never seen anything like us roll through?
San Diego would be a good starting point (furthest south/west you can go in the US). The gaslamp has over 150 bars, and some sweet (like Vegas) bars. Downside, they close up shop at 1:30am.
Girls.
If people want to upgrade their rooms, contact Chris and pay a few extra bucks.
Someone needs to drive a motorhome.
Girls.
Get a street closed like we did in '04.
Costumes.
Water Balloons/super soakers.
Girls.
Another major racing event like '06.
Get people to run their cars at the tracks like '05.
Reliable cars.
Rent a uhaul to carry spare parts....more sleep.....a pillow for the asses of suckers riding in elises....
Looking forward to next year...my car will be a surprise....i'm thinking a caddy with bull horns or something completely retarded...like a jerry's kid's bus or something
i think this year was great and the time chris had to put in to coordinate this event is unspeakable however just like any pre planned occasion you will run into unforseen "bumps in the road" no pun intended i think the route should stick to its roots and go across the counrty however the timeing of the events could be changed instead of driving all day to the event we should only drive for an hour and show up at the event then drive the rest of the day to the hotel this way were not worring about driving to the event then hotel we get the event out of the way nice and early then it just the open road left for us i also this the events should be something else then involving the cars we just drove for 8 hours such as i.e. sky diving, bunjee jumping, jet sking, paintball, rock climbing, the next issue is the meals which i cannot complain about the 5 pound chiken burrito in new mexico however the one thing i noticed was soo much waste food i must have seen chris throw out a ton of food each night i think it would be wise to just go to a resturant even if its an applebees or fridays just let it be known that chris only covers the meals and drinks are on you this way everyone gets what they want we actually eat at a table instad of a parking lot and there is no waste food its a shame to throw out that much food other then that the rally was a total success cant wait for the dvd and cant wait for AKA Rally 2007!!!
All these suggestions sound great. We should really try to avoid going through Virginia next year or in any future Rallys. Anything over 80mph. is reckless driving there and anything over 90 is an almost certain arrest. I didn't know any of this or that radar detector's are illegial there. When we left D.C. on Tuesday we went through Virigina on our way back to Texas. Maryann was driving and I was asleep and she got stopped for doing 93 in a 65. After talking her way out of an arrest she got a summons to appear in court for reckless driving, and my Valentine 1 was taken away. Not to mention the hell that the cop raised because we had a completely busted taillight in his state...
All these ideas are good, especially the activities nick suggested.
I also like the idea of a northern route, but would like for it to be East -> West, so we keep gaining an hour as we pass through time zones, instead of losing one like we did this year.

i guess for me, hanging out is fun but the driving is better. as long as the rally goes cross country and is held within the same time frame i should be good to go. just tough to take so many days off and justifying it with the wife.
I would agree with the east to west route. Stopping in New Orleans or South Padre Island sounds like a great idea too...
I am also all up for Jason's idea of a couple of days in Phoenix to get some track time. That would be awesome.
