Default Subaru Impreza 2.5

I have been looking at Subaru's lately and they seem to be good cars. I cant afford an expensive car when I get one and the Subaru Imprezza 2.5 seems to be a nice car for the price. With some engine modifications is it comparable to other cars in the rally?

Buy a used WRX for the same price or less. Much better performance.

Don't get a WRX...everybody and their brother has one. The 2.5 RS is a very potent car, and not alot of people have one. For one, they come in a four door and two door model. My mom has the two-door version...and it FLIES! I shift out of 3rd at about 68-70 (this is redlining) very quick and nimble, great in the snow (important here in WA). You can also turbo these beasts, making them really really fast. All of this at about half the cost of a WRX. is a good source.www.nasioc.com

The GC imprezas (pre 2002, US) came in 2 door initially, and then 4-door.

The GD imprezas are 4 door (RS) or wagon (TS)

The 2.5RS (TS) also gives you cheaper insurance than a WRX.

You can drive anything to compete in a road rally.

The STi trans can hold 500+ WHP. If the trannys are bad in either car, it is due to driver error.

I have countless slips from when I had my car, never a problem w ~70,000 miles driven. Went thru 2 clutches, 1 twin plate STi

I am on my second Subaru and have nothing against them besides the winsheilds that are prone to crack. I have never had any reliable issues with my STi, and I have put 25,000 hard run miles on it in the past 10 months. The only problem that I had with my 03 WRX was breaking 2nd gear and having it covered under warranty w/o any SOA issues. Out of the 9 modified WRX's & STi's owned by people I know, none of them are having any reliablity issues and they are all on the origional trannies. Get your facts straight about a car before you start to bash. Your buddy must be a complete fuck to break a STi 6 speed, I can understand the 5 speed, but damn he cant drive worth shit if he fucked up the almost indestructable tranny. Let me guess, he revs to redline then dumps the clutch. When he should rev to 4500-5000 and slip the clutch. If you decide on the EVO (also a nice car), dont take it to any SCCA events, your warranty will be voided. Mitsu has people watching. BTW: The phrase is "I will vouch for that".
