I'd like to see some vids? What is it running? Have they ever hear of aerodynamics? Looks like a shitty votec shop project!

WTF is that?!

A turbo crate motor?!?!? Apparently it never made it out of the crate and just had a frame and some body panels bolted on.

I bet its a monster.

Maybe I suck, but I really don't find that too appealing. The whole point of european cars is the whole package...not just the power. If you're going to do that, why not just use a chevy or something. Sure, it's a great piece of engineering, but I just don't get it...

Does that look like a crate motor to you? It's factory B5 S4 motor converted to solid lifter heads and single turbo. Cars sometimes need to be taken to the next level when only so mouch power can be drawn from bolt on parts.

And the car is not finished, hence being a build thread.

I personally think its a sick car. Its obvious that the owner is not building this as a street car or to retain the overall package. Its a drag car and he used what he had. People have been pushing the limits of the audi drag car for some time now, someone finally took the leap.

Not to be a hater or anything, but a gutted car with nothing but an engine and a cage, designed to go in a straight line, on chemically treated surfaces, for a couple of seconds at a time, just doesn't excite me that much?

Sure, it is fast as hell... For 8/9 seconds.
After you tow it to a drag strip, unload it off the trailer, fill it up with race gas, wait in line for half an hour of more, warm up the tires, and hope nothing breaks

It is also rear wheel drive, which for me defeats the whole purpose of an Audi...

I totally agree I would never build a drag car as I love AutoXing and hope to get into road racing when I have more driving experience, time and money. But if you cannot appreciate the fabrication and thought that goes into a one off creation, then I don't know what to say.

I love building, fixing and maintaining cars, sometimes I feel like it's more fun putting motors together then actually driving the car it self, but that may just be me.

Well, as a Mechanical Engineer by occupation, putting stuff together for me is just work I'm more interested in the overall package; I want a car that is fast all the time, not just fast for less than 10 seconds at a time, with no interior, lights, or anything else that make a car legal or even useful in the street, and can only be driven in a straight line with warm tires on a chemically treated surface with race fuel in the tank, etc etc... The usefullness of that is too limited...
Plus if I read the thread right that's just one rich dude who hired a shop to gut his Audi completely and do the drivetrain for him: the owner's only input on this project was paying for it..

Great first post, I'm sure you will get a lot of support with it.

I don't think I really want to touch your comment on haters, but I'll give it a go just for the hell of it. Sure everyone who doesn't like your project must just like jacking off or 'slagging' other people's projects because they don't want an S4. Cool you've owned 3 and dropped enough money into them to get an interesting car, but in doing so you've killed all that is arguably 'good' about the S4.

So you've owned 3 and keep upping the ante on your power, now you've spent 120k for an ugly out of date shell that you can't use but at shows and strips. Meanwhile Powerlabs' supercharged vette, which btw he has also done most of the work on himself too, puts down nearly 600whp and can use it to out handle most cars on the road.

Now I'm no vette nutswinger but I used to be a Dubhead and I'm not even remotely impressed with your build. That body style is pretty well played out my friend and it's about as unique and special as Frankenstein unfortunately. I've seen B5 S4s run 10's with full systems while still looking good so what do you really have? People will see it at a show, snap a picture then walk on by to the New S4 with some LMs and a drop to OOOH and AHHH at.

120k on that piece? No thanks, I'd take an Aston Martin any day. So maybe you should take that back to the 80's when drag racing was hot and stop hating on cars that can do more than one thing at a time.

Thank your for building a great machine. It will hopefully do what you want and that is to go fast down the drag strip.

Fuck all the haters, they do not have to click the thread or post a reply.

The vision of this project is awesome. Build quality, fab work, and parts. Nothing is left behind or untouched.

For all of us that have actually built or fabbed up a car/parts...Please post up progress pics.

Congrats, you spent 120K to have someone build you a gutted out car that can only drive in a straight line on a treated surface for a few seconds at a time. Pardon me for not being too impressed? If I cover my car in cow shit, let it dry, and then clearcoat it, it will be the only one of its kind in the world too... "Unique" does not necessarily mean good... You built another rear wheel drive drag car; in a drag car competition, it will get destroyed by real drag cars, so in reality there is nothing particularly special about it.

And for your information my "shitty corvette" is my daily driver and it doesn't just go around corners; it rides on road racing tires on all 4 corners and pulls 1.18Gs lateral acceleration and 1.23Gs on braking... Try that with your Audi

It's a tube chassis drag car, not the platform I would particularly chose but it should be cool none the less. Seeing as how I'm part of BlownEUROS I can't hate on it.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I guess if you were trying to build yourself a unique albeit ugly as sin 100% drag queen, you did. Congrats, you're driving RuPaul.

To the haters, this is a drag car, you built a drag car because you love to drag, no drift, rally, or buy groceries with it.

Awesome build though man. Love to see it once its finished. I'm guessing it will be more a 7/8 second car or better then a 9 second car powerlabs.

I would someday love to drive a better then 9 second car. Notice I said drive not own! lol
