Default Salt Flat Top Speed Numbers

This is the list of top speeds as recorded by P.T.
It didn't occur to us to write them down until the 4th or so car, so some times might be missing. Other errors may have occured because of the spotty radio reception.

These speeds were measured by the radar gun and are more accurate than your speedometer!

Highest speed recorded for each car is in bold font. All speeds are in mph.

350Z - #34 : 178; 183; 177
Corvette C6 - #56 : 161; 159; 157
Transmarobird - #17 : 159; 159; 151
E46 M3 - #111 : 157; 156;143; 145; 156; 156; 159; 156
Honda 600RR - #21 : 152; 148; 157
E39 M5 - #00 : 145; 143; 157
Porsche 911 - #01 : 146; 148; 148; 150; 152
Porsche Boxster - ? : 145; 142; 145; 142
BMW 330i - #666 : 138
Corrado - #76 : 133; 137
IS 300 - #12 : 133; 132; 131
Jetta - #22 : 129
Z3 coupe - #0 : 102; 121
Supra - #13 : 116; 117; 118

Shame only half the group ran.
Also...very interesting how the cars fall out in that list

Thanks Alicia- I'll make up some little badges for the cars that ran.

I loved the salt. But my car needs another mile of run to hit top speed.
I was faster in Indiana on the drive out with Chris.

The need for speed is addictive. I remember getting out of the car after the last run and thinking "dammit! this thing is too slow!" I may not wait till the warranty is up for a supercharger.

Salt in ’08!

My speedometer read at tops 159mph, but I guess there is a difference between what our speedometer reads and actual....I definitely hit higher than 145 tailing the Cayman leaving the flats....

You have shitty, overpriced, aftermarket HRE wheels. The radar gun doesnt lie.

It was probably because you had 93 octane on the way out but 91 on the flats. Also, the altitude decreases your top speed (as I learned later).

My car definitely feels better now too. Ofcourse, that could also be because all my cylinders are firing now

Anyone use a GPS to verify the radar guns accuracy?

I am definitely jealous I didn't go. Hitting the top speed legally must be an interesting experience

I personally would be worried to do a top speed run in my car right before i have a 3000mile road trip accross the country

Yep, radar gun hit accurately at 120 in the gps test.

It was a surreal experience. I found that all of the AKA cars were very well prepared, and that everyone who ran was comfortable that their cars were simply doing what they were built to do.

Chris

P.S. Thanks for the radar gun info - I ended up with a Stalker Pro gun.

Yeah I know for a fact (in addition to Chris's double checking) that the radar gun was dead on as indicated by GPS.

I was worried I had just bought my car the week before and spent pretty much the entire week before the rally swaping parts and getting it ready. I think 118mph in a 22 almost 23 year old car w/ a completely stock drive train is pretty good. Next year I hope to bring a MKIV Supra. In fact I'm already looking for a nice MKIV Supra to take next year (and keep of course).

My car hit 210 on the flats, Chris' radar gun wasn't fast enough to record it.

All Hail "Mach Schnell" *cough cough* (English/German word mangle Mach & Schnell = fast)

If I can manage to acquire the one that's close to home, and used to belong to my buddy Chris... It should do about 165 170. I've seen the 16,000 in receipts he spent building up the engine. Makes about 600 to 650hp.

The 85 Supra was a beast.

Was in the car with PK after the Salt Flats when I couldn't go over 90-95mph due to vibration from the salt on the suspension.

Then I see Rusty cruise on by at 100+mph giving me a thumbs up.

Rusty's Supra was a BEAST... no doubt....

Interesting to see that a NISSAN beat the Vette's and Porsche's..... Hummmm? Dale, don't be jealous because my car is better then yours... LOL...

It was a blast and depending, I might run it again out there with higher boost OR I might take an all together different car more suited for high speed runs and 200+mph

lol

yeah but you had the world's most under powered porsche - the boxtser, a glorified boxster - the cayman (who didn't even run), and an older 911 with a misfiring cylinder, all non-turbo and all stock. Jeff's gt3 would have given you a run for your money.

I would have liked to see the Cayenne run.

but you're right, there is no denying, you did kick ass out there Brent.

LOL... I know Jeff would definitely given me a run for my money.

As for you Dale... lets clarify... I did not break down. I was in an accident..
If you hit that bastard, or if the Porsche behind me had, you would have had problems too. 100+ mph and a racoon will never end in anything but tears..
