I have a Uniden 538, it's worked great for me for years:
http://www.uniden.com/products/produ...roduct=PRO538W

Very simple, small in size, inexpensive (bought mine used for like 40 bucks) and with some tuning and the right antenna the range is awesome. Even out of the box it's a great performer.

We ran a RS Mini-CB, nice single touch for 9/19, I wish it had a SWR meter built in

The main thing to worry about is your antenna selection

Cobra DX 19 peaked and tuned is a great simple radio.
http://www.sparkyscbshack.com/catalo...82/2935612.htm

I use to have a Uniden 510xl peaked and tuned, it gave me great range with the antenna I used

As for antenna's I have always had great luck with Wilson's I used a Wilson 500 Mag Mount and it has stay on my car up to 125mph. But if you plan on going faster than that I would suggest a trunk mounted antenna cause you don't want an antenna fly off at speed

Here is one place

Just google search "trunk mount CB antenna's" Wilson Antenna's make the top 3 base loaded CB antenna's (5000, 1000, 500) K40 makes a good CB antenna and have trunk mounted version

Also maybe 'Team Mthrice' could comment on their magnet mount CB antenna cause they said they were going at some interesting speeds and pulled over at 120. So I am interested to see how their mag mount CB antenna held up

I run the same Cobra that CrazyVolvo suggested, it has been great for the past two years.

Yeah we were going interesting speeds. If I were to speculate, I'd say our CB antenna could hold on at speeds of 160mph+. Speculation and theory, though.

All of our antennas were from antenex. We got the antennas with the nmo mount and 3 magnetic nmo mounts for the trunklid. They held on fine on the M3, on the GTR the metal wasn't quite as strong and it flew off in the triple digits and smacked against the trunklid. But I think that was also because it was on a pretty big angle on the roof too. Sitting straight up on the trunk and never had any problems at all....

The one on the trunk of the STi held at 150mph, the WS6's held to 160mph.
