Picked it up this evening... $1700
It's an '87 325e 5 spd with 230k on it. I am going to do the general maintenance stuff soon, and turn it into a daily driver for my mother who is going to commute ~65 miles one-way, and a Land Rover ain't gonna cut it in mileage
Well then this morning I went out to the car - drove her around to get a feel (Hadn't drove it last night) and man this thing feels TIGHT. The suspension is great for an '87 - it had to have been replaced at some point! So, still dreading having to do the timing belt, I was looking around for clues as to when it was done. This meant looking at the timing cover bolts, the gaskets/seals, seeing how old they were approximately. But everything looked relatively clean. I was puzzled. Then, I remembered saying, "Look at this sticker in the morning when it's light out." So I checked the label out, expecting it to be a "don't touch when running, hot" type bullshit. But I looked closer and, well...
Car has 230k, timing belt done at 211k.... YES! No timing belt replacement for me!!! This is awesome - it also means that my mom can get it inspected tomorrow and drive it to work on friday! Such a freaking sick find for $1700.
The only "issue" is that the tach/coolant/oil service lights don't work, and this is said to be due to a failed "SI Board" its a module in the gauge cluster - so I am ordering a brand new one (I don't feel like playing with used ones). $100 brand new... $1800 mint running E30... damn.
