Default NY-Memphis, Day 1.
Alrighty.. I'm looking at some maps on the "route" tab of the main page...

I expressed concern about the drive through Virginia when the rally was supposed to originally start in Philadelphia. Now that we are starting in New York city.. we might have an alternative route that would not take us through the "Commonwealth".

It looks like the planned route is: I-81S, I-40W. A direct route, no doubt, but.. if we were to take a look at mapquest or mappoint, they suggest a route through Columbus, OH, completely avoiding the drive through VA.

Just a thought... I'm not sure if the organisers are going to give us a "route" sheet at the start of each day.. but.. I'd like to avoid VA at any cost. (they don't allow Radar Detectors, and their cops are hee-haw assholes.)

The maps on the route page are just for reference. that is not the route we will necessarily be taking on the rally

everyday you will get a mission packet to inform you of the day's travels

Does everyone have to travel the same route or is it up to us to make it to the checkpoint each night??

I'm guessing that if we get a "mission packet" that the route is preplanned.

However... my Pioneer AVIC-90 DVD Navigation system is NEVER wrong... so.. if it suggests an alternate route that seems substantially shorter, you can bet your ass that I will be taking it and smoking you all.

The route is not preplanned. It is up to you to navigate to each destination.

Just keep in mind.... if I go blazing past a state trooper at 120+, I WILL RUN. Your car should have no problem hanging with.

You've got that new 2.2L mad torque! You will leave me at high speeds. But yes our cars will out run a crown vic I'm sure because without FI, the S2000 out runs a Mustang GT easy. Last time I checked that was what was in a Crown Vic police interceptor.
