Default DIY Auto rig test shots.

So over the past weeks I've been working on perfecting my rolling rig, last week I got to take a few test shots to see whats what, there not incredible but not a bad start either IMO, and I look forward to messing around with it and seeing what I can come up with. Rig consists of 2 Manfrotto avenger 1000 cups, 2 bogen super clamps, and a 10' 2" in diameter EMT pole. Any way the shots:

That is not my rig, it is actually a professional photographers who shoots for 8lug magazine, total 911, european car, etc.

I have a pic of the rig which I am going to copy, just on another computer. I will post it up later. Only thing I am going to change is that I am going to have the rig pipes powdercoated a flat black so it doesn't reflect a lot on the paint.

Hmmm thats a really good Idea actually. Heres a few pics of mine, its real sturdy, it just isnt really as long as Id like it to be, nor is it collapsible, maybe I'll play around with it and see what I come up with.

oh you made yours that way.

This one is made with 3 magnets and a heim joint. Then just some fense post material and a few clamps. I find it a lot easier to edit the photos when the rig is on the ground off the car than ontop of it (for getting full shots).

Yeah, I looked into the magnet route, I def agree its a much better way to go, you can get much wider angles as well and the ease of cropping out the rig, I really couldn't decide which way I wanted to go, I figured Id try the cups first, eventually Im going to make a wide under car rig. Any idea where He sourced the magnets ? I know there is company that sells full under car rig kit like this for like 900 bucks its insane, but then again so are the results.

You use the pipe for the rig to pry them off. It's relatively easy. I started mine with 2 50lb'rs. Was no even close. IIRC I found that 325's did the best job.

they are not hard to pry off. the leverage of the pipe makes it easy. just have to put it on a strong point of the car so you don't rip anything apart.
