Default Darwin's 3.1L 944 turbo build

Hi!

I've owned this car for going on 5 years now and I'm finally getting it to where I want it.

It started out almost 100% stock. All it had was a set of Autothority chips (I hated them...way too rich). I've slowly been modifying it ever since, but as soon as I do something different, I just want to do something else!

Well I finally decided to pull the trigger and begin a 3.1L engine for it. The engine itself is being assembled by Chris White of 944enhancement and it will be finished in about a month.

Right now I'm in the "parts collection" phase (I'm currently away from home and won't be able to do anything until november with the car )

So far I've accrued the:

Turbo (Vitesse Stage V)

Headers (SFR Stage 2)

Gauges (Oil pressure, Oil temp, Boost, AFR, EGT) from Prosport gauges

New front splitter (from 944-951parts.com)

Still have a few more things to get, but most of the BIG items are either paid off or already in my hands. Still have to get a few exhaust bits, seals, rollers, belts, etc...

I'm hoping that I'll have almost everything I need and will just be able to drop it in fairly easily...but we'll see how well my planning pays off when I get home.

I'll throw up some pics of the progress as I tear the old engine out and begin installing the new bits.

Thanks for looking!

-Darwin

Nice, somehow I didn't remember you were doing a big build. I would've gone with a GT based turbo and the CNC'd mount over the Vitesse stuff.

I looked into the Tial setups and the DBB ones offered by Tim at SFR, but I was aiming for an easy assembly. Johns turbo will work fine seeing as this will be a street car, but there are ALWAYS opportunities to upgrade

Very nice! After wasting a lot of money on every single possible bolt on for two N/A cars only to realize power gains of maybe 10-15% I've decided any vehicle I mod from now on will get forced induction...
Looking forward to your results. I almost did a 944 project once, but I wanted to get one with a blown engine and swap an STI motor into it

Not my boots. They are my dads, he was taking photos for me while I was in Iraq.

car is coming along, engine is in and front struts installed. Now I'm trying to drop the rear suspension so I can replace the torque tube and remove the torsion bars...not fun.

No update in quite a while but finally started the car today. Priming the oil pump was a PITA but afterwards, it started up fine. Now to start tuning...
