Default Be Careful this year everyone

someone just posted this in the iRacing forum lastnight i dont know if its been posted here or not, but i know most of you are smart enough to not do this stuff anymore.

"Anyone know anyone running in the Gumball 3000? My wife runs the office at a Ford dealership in town and they had a Bugatti Veyron impounded there.

Story goes the Veyron and 2 Porshes (make unknown) were running over 200 Mph, near Winslow, Arizona. DPS clocked em after they slowed down at 179 MPH. They continued until DPS said they were gonna lay spike strips. The cars must have had scanners because they pulled over. Got yanked, and taken promptly to jail. DOH!! they impounded the Veyron at the Ford dealership my wife works at so I got to check it out. F'in BAD! Black with silver Gumball stickers all over it. Didn't get to see the Porsches because they took them to different dealerships. Saw a lot of cars coming through the area today while we all were riding the bikes.

So anyone know anyone with a Veyron running in the rally? If so they might need bail money. That's a big time felony in Arizona, not to mention that they will probably try to slap them with evading or something. I know these guys running the rally all pack some bailout cash cause they figure they/re gonna get nabbed but......"

For some reason, I don't think this guy is worried about bail money.

Arizona DPS is totally out of control here! .. Something is going on with the DPS officers, I got pulled over and ticketed for 3mph coming back from skiing in Feb. 48 in a 45 ... We have photo radar vans everywhere, one got shot up and killed the operator.. (Good Riddins ) The DPS has been taking some small arms fire too from people, we have a mini Anti DPS revolution vers the people of Arizona ..

I also got pulled over 2 weeks ago in the Carrera for having my radar detector mounted to my window.. I was so pissed I couldn't see straight, the BS about it was I didnt even have it on I was going under the speed limit..

FUCK ARIZONA HIGHWAY PATROL, basicly FUCK ALL HIGHWAY PATROLS!! (Kansas NAZI Pigs!) ..

Yes as you can tell I dont think very highly of our state DPS officers, I think they have a 3 question Application and hiring process

1. Were you a Virgin in High School and College (If you actually finished) .. Y or N

2. Were you the Kid that was any of the following the Hall monitor, Did you tattletale, or the class geek/Douchebag, or Nerd? Y or N

3. Were you the Jock who was to stupid to go to college and just likes being that ASSHOLE? Y or N

If you answered Yes to 2 of the 3 questions your HIRED- Welcome to the DPS - if you answered yes to all 3 your our new Chief congrats! - If you only answered one of these please apply elsewhere you have issues but not enough to be hired for DPS!

Wowzers

The story sounds a little fishy though, especially how they said they were going to put spike strips out or stop and the drivers happen to hear it over the radio. If anything I see the cops getting them at a gas station or a stop of some sort?

I can't believe the police was considering spike strips; they might as well have shot the drivers if that was the approach; a blowout at those speeds is absolutely lethal!

It was always my understanding that they didn't have the authority to put spike strips out at high speds for that reason...

I don't find the story too far fetched, I have 'heard' of times when individuals have used either CB or scanners to discover if the locals are looking for them, and then used this information to make an 'informed' decision as to what they should do about it.

As for the spike strips. I have also 'Heard' of a situation where the locals have blocked off a main highway, only allowing certain traffic to flow through the shoulder while pulling others over. This was done to corral groups of individuals for a 'Stern Talking To' before letting them go.
I guess if they are that interested in stopping you they will take whatever means required to get you to stop and listen.

FYI, I have also heard of the grab them at the gas station tactic, but sometimes the police get the wrong car and do not have the right proof if the police are lagging too far behind...
