ok, so maybe I'm making a big deal out of this but I swear, never has the thought, "omg, I'm going to die", been so grave in my mind. I mean, for a second I really thought that was it.
So, tonight I was returning from a business conference in Ocean City, MAryland about 2.5 hours south of annapolis. And yes, I worked my ASS off. Well, hard enough considering we were encouraged to start imbibing at 11am every morning (open bar behind our booth). Anyway, we left tonight despite the bad weather thinking that conditions where well enough that the weighty suburabn would keep our wheels fairly grounded.
We had only been on the road ( I wasn't driving) about an hour when at about 45mph we hit some ice on a two lane bridge. The ass got loose and swung a little to the left. My coworker countered and we swung to the right but too much, then you know what happened. The ass went left, then right, then left and the bitch started fish tailing out of control. We skidded back and forth for atleast 100ft. The back then hit one concrete barrier, then shot around and hit the right. The bloody truck then did a 180 spin and slammed hard into the right concrete wall, facing on coming traffic and parallel to the fucking short ass wall, half the height of the burban and about 35 ft above the frozen, ice covered river- I thought we would go over. All I could see as we hit the wall was the friggin water looming below us, just the wall between us and a nice icy cold plunge. Anyway, the wall held and we didn't tip over. I guess we really couldn't have but I was badly shaken up nonethless. I hate the cold.
You whores could have been one short. And you know I'm practicllay the one oestrogen secreting person around here! (well except Chris). WHat would you have done then?!
p.s.oh and Tom when he wants to cyber-cross dress as Butter.
its oncoming, not on coming

DTM: As a drill, go wreck your car, then come write about it, sans typos.
Alicia: I got your vm, but I thought you said you saw an 18-wheeler jack-knife, for some reason. Kelly told me otherwise, and I just read the details. Insane and scary!

Hahaha, your point got across, I just didn't see its humour. Shit, even too dry for me? Impressive.

awwwww....again, thanks you guys! I love you too!
On the bright side I got one of the cops to put cuffs on me and try to push me into his backseat while I fought him. He even let me put my foot on the door. Unfortunately, the picture didn't come out right. It was fun though.
oh, and Minority says hello.

hahaha. Honestly I don't want to make this a bigger deal than it was. I was just ridiculously scared. I don't think the wall could have given out and the center of gravity of the burban is too low to topple, least it didn't.
and I thought you guys would like to hear about it. Plus you know..I'm a whore and I love my fellow whores.
<------quite possibly a drama queen

sorry, I'm so late.. Cracking down on some extra hours at work.. and worst of all, they are making me do work.. These guys suck.. But I'm glad to hear that everything turned out for the best Alicia. Those Chevy trucks are really reliable and hard to flip... Don't want to get you worried or anything but the same thing happened to my cousin last year right before Christmas. Everyone was ok, but they spent the holidays in the hospital.. It's a blessing that everyone was able to "walk" away from the accident.

Well not the icy river part.. but the slaming into the side rails... SEATBELTS are a good thing to have on...
- Do you know if the driver was in 4WD???
Chris
02-01-2005, 12:43 AM
Doesn't really matter how many wheels are driven if there is zero available traction ;)
bcflick
02-01-2005, 12:46 AM
True.. True... But he had to be in 2WD rear for it to fishtail like that...

thanks bcflick. No he wasn't in 4-wheel. It was a 2.5hr trip on a road with maybe two slight turns, no hills, we didn't think there would be a need for it. There wasn't snow and like Chris said, black ice is an entirely different matter.

Note the video of my STi driving sideways for 100 yards at a time, and generally with its ass hanging out. It can easily happen with all four wheels being driven ;)

Don't beat me down just yet.. I don't even have 100 posts yet.. still new to the game. (sniff, sniff)... I'm getting there... I guess I should make sure I read everything before I start making comments... =-) I know black ice is very dangerous... I thought the incident happened in snow.. my misinterpretation.. these big words are hard to spell 3 in the morning.. (the; snow; posts)
