View Full Version : Times Square Midnight Run

Some of my MD/VA/DC peeps are organizing a midnight run from Edgewater NJ through Times Square and back.
They may be enlisting the help of the NYPD.
It's a bunch of higher end cars and they are hiring professional photographers etc.
I dunno if any of you big boys want to play along. Lemme know and I can forward on the details.

I'm in too. This is like 3 minutes from my house. the cops do bust balls here because in the summer they usually have unofficial car meets here every thursday night. PK and i rolled in one night i believe and we got pulled for no front plates. Retarded, but looking fw to it.

I mean at this place on thursdays they do, but i haven't had a front plate on any of my cars since as far as i can remember, and never got a ticket for that. The cops are usually focussing on my more serious infractions that they ended up pulling me over for like speeding, but always survive those too. Thank you family member cards.....

Hey guys, glad to be over here......some of you may already know me. Thanks for the great response thus far. We are doing our best to control the growth of the event and maintain a consistent line of cars such as Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, Lotus, BMW, Mercedes and on a case by case basis permit other folks to join.
Priority #1 is that everyone respects each other and their surroundings.

I agree, palnning could have been a little better, but having tried to organize drivers before, I kow it can be somewhat difficult to move mobile crowds around. Plus, they had to deal with the police presence...

I was there too, for like .02 seconds. :roflpicard:
Stupid fucking edgewater cops. I am considering planning a route.. the lack of planning for this event was amazing.
Atleast i did see some people LOL like chris. LOL... hope everyone had a good trip.
OH the drive back was FUN. Nobody was on the Merrit PKWY. Triple digits + empty parkway FTW.
I agree. The lack of planning was awe-inspiring. I got there just after it got broken up and was told to drive to a bar in Clifton. The moment I got to the bar I was told everyone was at Times Square. Before I got on the tunnel I was told everyone was at the Javis center. Half a mile from the Javis center I was told it had been broken up.
Oh well... Next time :(
CHRIS / Durka: I still want a piece of that GT-R... I'm in London next week but if you guys want to meet up some time after that for a spanking I'm game ;)

Powerlabs, I'm sorry you missed us, but how can you complain about the lack of planning when you arrived at least an hour and a half late? We didn't leave edgewater commons until 11.
And why didn't you just make your way to Times Square? you would have definitely run into the group. We were everywhere.

boochook.. We'll meet next time. You looked busy but for what it was i think it was pretty well organized considering the amount of vehicles/cops chasing you everywhere/Times Square traffic.
powerlabs: If you just went to times square instead of the bar in clifton you would have run into all of us. You must have been 5 minutes behind but went entirely in the opposite direction.

Nicky - for sure man.....next time I'm in NJ I'll stop by....my family still lives in Far Hills, NJ so I'm always down for good diner food.....
powerlabs - sorry you couldn't be with us the entire time, but considering this was all done for free and we did the best we could barring the circumstances of Edgewater PD and Jacob Javits Center Security, I think it went well. Over 100 cars showed up and it looks like a good 60-80 still made it to the final destination. I consider that to be very well.
Hopefully next time bro.

Boochook thanks for setting this up! I had a lot of fun and it was a great turnout! It's a shame the cops and flashlight rent-a-cops were being dicks everywhere we went. It was nice meeting many of you.
Powerlabs aka Sam, I felt bad you couldn't make it bro. It seems everytime we spoke we were being chased out of the parking lot. Next time!

Nah, its fine,I'm not blaming anyone; it really sucked that I was chasing the caravan for 2 hours without seeing any cars but I should have made it there on time (got MAJORLY lost on my way there and that cost me an hour).
I hope we can make another one happen, and if we do, perhaps we could try and get permission to park our cars wherever we go? I've had good luck with places like Autozone letting a lot of cars park there after closing hours if you talk to the owner beforehand; all it takes is a piece of paper saying you can be there and the cops will piss off...

^^no worries. here's the situation, edgewater commons is a center where there used to be a lot of meets on thursday nights. mostly rif raf's, younger kids with something to prove. over 500 cars would show on those nights. it started to get out of hand, cars were doing burnouts and just about causing a lot of chaos not to mention a few incidents where someone drove their car through the Modell's, a riot broke out once and the police were getting attacked by some of the attendees.
so, naturally, the PD and the owner's of the complex were on high alert. this came as news to most of us when we got there and let me tell you, granted the PD kicked us out, but for the most part, they were doing their jobs and were pretty cool about the whole situation once we had a chance to talk to them. let me put it to you this way, we arrived at around 7:30pm there, they began to kick us out at about 8:30pm, then gave us FINAL ultimatum at about 10:30pm, so that's cool in my book and very reasonable. we spoke w/ the seargent and he said what you mentioned, get approval next time from the owners. The coordinators of the parking and rally took this in to account and we should be good for the future (don't know if i can keep putting this much mileage on the car often, but may attend in the DD once in a while or grab my dad's PCar and make the run in the future).
regardless, it went very well barring the circumstances and i thank everyone who made it out and for all of your patience and overall great attitude to make the best of what we had........
next event, WASHINGTON DC!!!! let's hope the capitol police are as accomodating....probably not....hahahahaha

Hey guys, great meeting some of you this Saturday thanks for attending the meet. I have events in the Tri State Area roughly every 2 weeks and I also host a meet every Thursday night. Thanks to Berk for helping me with the planning of the Midnight Run. I think it was a great turnout and went pretty smoothly for the amount of cars that were there. We were expecting under 100 and got way more than that. I'm looking forward to participating in some more events with you guys I had a blast!!

I try to change them up everytime so they are on highway runs sometimes and sometimes they are on back road twisties. The Sunday before they midnight run we had a 1 hour drive on highways mostly and then went to a 15 million dollar mansion for a BBQ from 12-4 it was insane!! We had about 35 exotics and we were hitting close to 200 mph on the highway in a few of them. There was a 900 hp GT2 and a GT 700 turbo. I'm having problems posting pics but we also had a Carrera GT and about 10 Turbos as well as a bunch of modded M5's and M6's 7 Ferrari's and some nice MB's and Bentley's.

Anyone in my area I would love to see you show up to some more of my meets as far as the Tri State is concerned I host the best meets every other week. I have an airport runway event coming up in early September and a huge meet at the Jersey shore planned for mid July but I haven't formally announced it yet.
