I have a friend wo works at a used car dealership and he called me and told me to come drive one of the cobra's. As soon as I get there all I see is two mustangs, both '03 cobras .... this should be fun ;)
I picked the anniversary edition just because it had 3k miles.......the other was actually an '04 with ~ 450 miles (I chose the broken in one, like a true gentleman.)
Impressions: Way too quiet. the engine noise was significantly louder than the exhaust (this car still had the air silencer on it, so the supercharger was barely audible........this car needs a better cat-back from the factory).
---It makes boost almost immediately, pretty neat cruising @ part throttle, 3k rpm's and watching the boost guage spike every time you poke the gas pedal.
---- It handles and brakes much better than I anticipated, but overall you can still feel its heft. (in hindsight I think maybe i'm just used to the m3)
---- In a straight line it was deceptively fast (these cars always trap over 110mph) and by that I mean, it just didnt feel like it was capable of 12's. Dont get me wrong, it wasnt slow, it just didnt feel like 370wrhp (thats what they do stock to the wheels, nevermind their 390 "rating", they are WELL over 400.....If I remember correctly nick's black convertable did 453rwhp :)) I'm going to chalk up the reason I think it felt slow was the lack of aural pleasantries. The way a car sounds has ALOT to do with your perception of its capabilities. If it is quiet and civil sounding it just feels like a quiet and civil car.......if it's rippin' and snortin' and ready to kick you ass then it MUST be fast.
--- The seats are super comfortable, lots of lateral support whereas the seats in my 98 cobra suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
--- Does GREAT burnouts!!!!!!!!! Lights up 1st like its a game and if you powershift 2nd it'll spin as long as you hold down the goofy pedal. I just love how mustangs look all sideways burnin' out down the streets dont you??
they told me i could get it for 29.5
