"An unlucky driver ran over a mattress but decided to keep driving. In his pursuit to continue, the mattress ultimately whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank. The subsequent lack of fuel is what brought the vehicle to a standstill.

The driver managed to drive 30 more miles before he pulled over to the side of the road– even with 60 lbs of tangled coil springs wrapped around the vehicle’s drive shaft. The driver’s only complaint was that his vehicle “shimmied” at high speeds."

I almost ran over a mattress once too. Another time it was a 30 foot metal ladder on the middle of an interstate highway! I didn't hit that one but I almost stopped to try and get it off the road, because it was a matter of short time before someone did.
The only thing I've ever hit was deer, squirrels, a house cat, ducks and a porcupine.
The cat punched through my bumper at 90MPH and the deer cost me a bumper and a foglamp.

Damn, I am amazed that that guy has managed to make it this far in life!

This goes back to the rant I always have when some asshole blows up at the track and drives ON LINE all the way back to the pits rather than pulling over right away.
