Gardiner, New Paltz, Clindondale and platekill all came out too practice fighting propane type fires. We donated the gas and gave the fire company's a run down of the safty features on the trucks and how they work. We also showed them some examples of smaller vehicles(cars and trucks) with smaller tanks in the trunks and mounted under the car/truck.

then we had some fun....

Nice, that looks like fun! It looks like they were just using water to fight it?

very cool. Seems extrememly counter-intuitive though

Foam surrounds Liquid propane and protects it from exploding(no oxygen in a vapor cloud). When the firefighters walk through the foam it will vapoize and find a source too ignite.

The point of the exercise was too remove the fires source of fuel because in all propane explosions there is a source of fuel and the source can usually be cut off.

there was a shut off on the gas line in the center of the fire ball they have too shut off.

BTW they burned about 20 gallons of gas each time. That fireball is less 20 gallons.

I totally misunderstood. I thought you were somehow using propane to put the fire out.

When my dad was on the fire dept. I watched them do a few gas fire exercises, Its definitely a cool thing to watch. They also just used water.

i dont really know anything else you can use. Then emphasis if you dont need to be there LEAVE and get to a save place. there isnt much that can be done too fight a propane fire

I read the first part of your post, then was had to turn to answer a question from a coworker all the while thinking "PT is a pyro, he was shooting roman candles out his car and making 10000 black cats blow up" then I turned and read the rest.
