Hello everyone
My name is Mike Karpenko, I was referred from Nick Reid he tells me good stuff about this forum. I am an extreme sport junkie and also enjoy meeting new people with strange and different hobbies and sport.
I have a 2002 WRX slightly modded, but over all stock. I just started Auto cross and Time attack events. There is nothing I can't do with a car, with in reason. I have been in the tuner scene for about 4.5 years and meet a lot people. So with all that said hope to meet some of you, I do plan on registering for the Rally events. I heard they are awesome.
I plan on going to the Gumball 3000 2010 May 4th-7th(Boston-Canada-New York 2nd leg of the rally) to be a spectator and see how the Elite do it. 30K to register is too high for my blood. Fun to watch though.
Nice to be herehttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3332/3563179275_476cdc8248_m.jpg

Indeed, why be a spectator when you can be a participant.
Sleeping for 4 hours in a $200-300 a night hotel isn't that much different from sleeping 4 hours in a $600 hotel.

600 is not the problem. 30,000 for initial entry fee is the problem.

600 is not the problem. 30,000 for initial entry fee is the problem. gumball is one of the biggest waste of money I have heard from the non celebrities that go on the event.
Also as a spectator you will not really get to experience the 30k at all. You will spend close to $600 per night in the either city. When you add it up you would be close to the entry fee of the AKA.
Just judging from the attitude of the people on the forum and comparing it to the non-celeb gumballers I have spoken to the AKA is a much better rally and moch better group of participants.
Keep in mind this is coming from an outsider of the AKA and rally scene ingeneral!
AKA Rally also offers much better events to do at the stops.

I plan on participating in your rally, just making sure i will have it off. I talked with Nick he liked it. I already have a Navigator. I saw the pics and vids looks awesome. I have one advantage I would think over the event when it comes to the PO PO....Hope to see some of you.

For 30k, you could pay for your entry and a bunch of other cars on the AKA rally, and I guarantee we'll give you a better experience than Gumball......
Hahahhaahh.
But yeah, welcome!

I think you misunderstood me.
I meant that on the AKA Rally we stay in $200-$400 night hotel versus the Gumball where they stay in more expensive hotels.
Ofcourse, I don't know the actual $$values, I'm just speculating.

Welcome!
I would highly recommend you to attend the AKA rally, Its a fraction of the cost of the Gumball, and I bet you would have way more fun.

I met this guy for the first time in my life after a few 5 min phone conversations and we had a fucking blast on the rally.
We popped our AKA rally cherries this past 2009.

Yeah it sounds so awesome. 2400 or 2500 is worth it, what is the most AKA Rally ever had in one event? I noticed in the past there was 20 cars and another there was 50 or so. I am psyched!!!
Well thanks for the welcome so far, and hope to meet some of you next Summer.

Yeah, I was stuck in the car with China for a few hours and we somehow started talking about male birth control pills. You never know what will happen!

Mike, we've had as many as 52 cars, but we usually average around 25 cars.
That ends up being 50 people - a nice sized group.
I never even had a chance to meet all of the people who came the year 52 cars (over 100 people) showed up.

Thanks for the welcome. Gumball Rally has now dropped the entrance fee to 15K per person. Still WAY!!! out of my price bracket but thought i share that with you all.

Holy shit...really? I guess the economy is hitting them really hard.
Imagine cutting your entry fee from $120K to $15K. Ouch.
