So Rewind to my car being rear ended while parked by a 38' Ford. Or whatever

I put an Evolve bumper on, almost had it painted this week.... Seen here

I just got the headlights back on (blacked out, removed DRL lens, and orange reflector), did brakes etc....

I came back from Monterey on the 101 North. Between interchanges of Highway 156 and Highway 129 or something, I saw a retread in the fast lane. I was coming downhill at speed 80+ around the bend. If I steered right I'd be in a motor home in the slow lane. If I went straight, I'd probably take out my intercooler front bumper and possibly rear if the Front bumper came off and under the car. If I steered left, I might go into the shoulder and not have enough room to correct due to a bridge and narrow shoulder.

I hit the retread with the right side of my car. I feel it go under the front wheel / front passenger area. As it passes I hear a "Thud" followed by a "clatter" I look in my rear view as I see the bumper fly up and twist into the passenger lane, where it was promptly run over by a Semi Truck.

:: Cliff notes :: On 101 North coming from Monterey there are parts and pieces of an Evolve Rear bumper in Electric Silver. Go get it if you want it. I pulled off and the CHP sent someone and confirmed that it was in several pieces and not blocking traffic at this point.

It ripped off the passenger rear sliding piece that holds the bumper in place. So I can't re-attach another one. I guess I won't be attending Carlson. This car looks like a disaster. I don't think the car likes rear body kits..... the 05 bumper and sport kit were demolished by a 38' Ford. Now this.

So my car is again bumperless.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So after my huge 2 month vacation and throwing money down for the AKA rally, looks like funds are tight for a repair. Back to a 04' stock back end with Evolve side skirts.... :screwy: So now I'm drunk at home. :(

Needs 600 bucks for rear www.Evolvecars.com rear bumper + Paint + side brackets (50 bucks )

That sucks! Insurance may cover it under your comprehensive coverage (not collision)... also you can probably fruitlessly harass the state of CA for it.

China, that f-ing blows. :(
BUT! I'm glad this happened after the rally. Had you lost the bumper before, then you might not have come on the rally and we all really enjoyed having you with us :)
