And wtf, STi does not have huge gap, it's perfect for the street.
Either way, I drove my slammed m3 all winter last year, in some heavy snow. Never got stuck on the road!

I bought the car to use it. I'd rather be in a safe car during wintertime than a shitty daily driver. Either way, the superb driving dynamics of the m3 translated well to poor weather/snow with the appropriate snow tires.

a m3 is hardly a safe wintertime car IMO
same goes for almost all BMW's, my father has gone thru about 5 740il's and always bitches about the winter, which is why he bought the H2.

I am speculating your dad did not run appropriate tires. I wouldn't say an m3 is an IDEAL winter car, but it performed very well. Again, with the proper tires, I had more than enough available grip to corner, stop, and accelerate. Again, I'd much rather be in my m3 than a beater car during any season, because I trust its german engineering, and safety features. Winter driving isn't just about your driving ability/car's ability, it is also about how the car will protect you in the (likely) event some other idiot doesn't know how to control their tahoe, h2, etc.

I have driven many sports cars in snow. Tires definatly make a difference. My mom used to drive an 87 Vette year round and I would take it out in the snow. It wasn't too bad for a performance car in a few inches of snow. Her XKR would has no prob as long as your moving, but it gets stuck in about 1" of snow if it is at a stand still.

My car sucks in the snow you have to go slow or youll wind up in a spin and into a pole or a car or something. Im thinking of getting another car for winter but what to get i havent decided.

They arn't cheap. I could get a new set of Tien springs and a swaybar for the same price as a rack. It is so hard to spend that kind of money for somthing to haul shit around in. Maybee eBay can help me.
