I took my friends supra out for a drive the other day and ran a stop sign doing ninety in a choked out car it was great cause i braked wrong and killed the engine and then ran the damn stop sign. Its because of bad drivers like me people get killed. Shortly after this mishap i hit a tree after losing it on a corner doing like 65. It sucked i dont plan to do this again any time soon. How stupid can i be. :-x

thank you, I look at it this way supra + decent horsepower 25-35 k that insurance is not going to cover, im getting that money from somewhere ie. this kids bank account.

how the hell do you brake wrong, push it clutch depress brake, its not that hard, if you have to shift down and ease off clutch, this kid must be a real moron.
Also the car stalling out is no excuse for running the stop sign, you should still have pressure in the master cylinder for brakes, plus you still have the e-brake.

For driving that bad, you bet I would be taking it fom his bank account too. But then again, I wouldn't have handed him my keys in the first place.

yeah hell i dont like people driving the accord, i highly doubt if i had a supra i whould hand the keys off to anyone except a select few.
i sure hope after this display of stupidity that this kid dosen't try to come on the rally, if he cant handle turns at 65 i dont want to be anywhere near him at rally speeds.

What's the difference between a 1000HP supra and a 400HP supra?
Nothing. The both run 12's!

true true, was your s2000 stock last year tom, im selling cars now so i should have money for a decent car soon, and im just trying to weigh my options.
RacingHart
02-15-2005, 11:38 AM
It wasn't completely stock. Engine was NA though. Reliability issues forced us to change it over. Bent a valve on a misshift from redline in 3rd down to 2nd. Fucker was in trouble don't know how it made it from STL->NY->LA->STL.

02-15-2005, 11:42 AM
do you recomend keping it NA, it seems like she was fast enough though, As for the valve do you mean when you down shifted into second it hit the red? If so im suprised it didn't blow the head gasket. Whould you recomend the s2000, im trying to decide between that a 350 z, or a rx-8 if i go new. Might do an rx-7 build-up or a 300z its all still kinda up in the air.

I don't know. I think early 90s turbo cars are going to look dated soon. Still fast, but dated. RX-8s have huge reliability issues. The 350Z is a great car. Mass produced engine, they have all the bugs fixed now. Slap a bottle on it or boost it and it's a monster. The S2000 handles like a dream, has an amazing tranny, and screams loud. The S2000 has very limited modifications though. Not meant to be boosted, Only supercharged. It definitely gets looks. Don't rice it out like a lot of the owners do on s2ki.com.
I would say in order
1.S2000
2.350Z
3.300ZX
4.RX-8
5.RX-7

thats what im thinking besides, were kinda a honad family, parents, myslelf, my sisters, so the s2000 might be the way to go, but i can get a hell of a deal on nissans, perk of the job.
cant boost more than 10 lbs on a stock s2k motor, turbo or supercharged, its the same thing, boost is still boost, but w/ 10lbs u'll be pretty damn quick. Build up the internals and reduce the revs to eight grand and you have a potential monster, theres a few running around w/ 400+hp, and a couple w/ 500

Go with a 350Z and turbo it or an STi.

The S2k is just too weak for me. It has next to 0 torque. Granted the 9k rpms are nice, but not nice enough to justify 145 lb-ft of torque.
The rx7 is nice too, but maintainence is a bitch as the rotors go around 70k. And the engines are so different, good luck finding someone close who knows them well.

02-15-2005, 05:05 PM
hows the reliability with 300 z's ?
hey gotbo0st
02-15-2005, 05:15 PM
well, like any car 10+ yrs old, you need to do some maintainence. But with proper care they can last into 230,000 miles+
You just need to replace hoses and gaskets and anything old and brittle. As long as you respect the car and treat it nicely (and dont shift into first instead of third) you should be ok. My buddy did exactly what you did in his Z, he shattered 2 pistons, snapped 3 rods, bent all his valves and shot a rod into the steering rack that left a nice inch deep dent.
And of course the lower the horsepower, the better the chances of something not breaking.

it could have been much worse i got off easy. I'm thinking of a z build up they're pretty cheap on ebay.

Because it was stupid it would never normally happen in my car cause im used to the way mine drives but when i drive someone elses i get all screwed up and do to many things at one time it pisses me off but with my car at high speeds im good with it even though it is old.

To be a good driver you must be able to adapt to different circumstances and different cars, this is just a sign of your inexperience, i reiterate, you're not getting anywhere near my car, and i feel every one here feels the same way.

300z and the supra i think are the two most reliable cars. True about the rx7, loved that car but you have to know the engine.. very picky!! but a 1.3l engine keeping up with the z and supra. don't really like the s2k, like mike said, torque, where did it go.. and the awd cars, instant power/traction

Panda dude youre right im not very experienced i just started driving but one day ill be better i do good when i transfer from stick to auto i feel weird but do well but that isnt an accomplishment really. Usually i drive the supra well but that night i was a little nervous and not paying attention.
