This program is so retarded, considering the number of good cars that could help people or raise money for charity. I've also heard salvage yards complaining about lost business. Not to mention J.Owen just told me that a dealer he works with is owed over a million bucks by the government for rebates given!

Yeah, its a bit sad. Its like a personal pick n' pull for me at our Toyota dealer.
There is a 300zx, 1994ish Land Cruiser, numerous SC 300/ SC 400. A cherry 300E, S500, etc...

Yeah, just be careful, cuz I'm sure Obama would love to federally prosecute you for violating the terms of the deal by salvaging any drivetrain parts (or the whole car).

Getting people into new cars, good, woooo, jazz hands.
Throwing away a crap ton of autos that could help humans, dumb.
Well... maybe someones Bhoe will get a new bumper out for this.

to play devils advocate. The program is not meant for cars like the C4 in the video, but rather cars that are worth much less then the 4500 they would get towards a new car. In the case of the C4 above I would fault the idiot who decided to trade that in much more then the program. Who in their right mind would do that.

I wouldn't try to reason with them much. The point is not to be logical, but rather to find any reason, no matter how nonsensical, to disagree with Obama.
Pity you guys weren't this much opposed to Bush. But then again, he was just a dumb Good Ole Boy...

In the case of the corvette, a lot of dealers are offering double for clunkers. So 9K for a TPI C4 is suddenly a lot of money. Say the car has 140K miles, yah the body is nice but it is only worth maybe 6K or so.
Too bad they crush them, there are tons of nice parts to be had there.
Also too bad that they put that jizz in to blow um up. Just pull the vins and red flag them.

Future cards most of these people wont' be able to keep up with the payments, leading to future repossesions, to banks again footing the bill on these New cars. There is a reason these less fortunate people were driving clunkers to begin with. They have no money to afford a "new" camry.
as a car fan this video sickens me, but at least that vette put up a fight before going down. It's a shame.

Wow, people find ways to make money from everything nowadays huh? Running it without oil, or dumping, say, soapy water (which I bet is what's in those bottles) would have had the same effect almost for free..

85/86 C4 isn't worth much. Nor is it a car you would really want to buy.
To give you an idea; in '00 my mom sold her '87 C4 convertible for $10k with 50k miles on it.
