So with the new job and the MINI up for sale I figured it was about time that I decide on the next vehicle. I'm looking at something in the sub-30k range used and something more of a highway cruiser(take the turnpike to work). I've been considering a 135 or 335 coupe or possibly an E46 m3 since they can be found on the lower end of the pricing spectrum now.
Modding wise I don't think I would do anything heavy, just exhaust suspension and wheels(tuned of course as well with the 1/335). I don't want to limit myself to just BMW though, so I'm open to suggestions. I've been considering the Genesis(though for a bit more the twin turbo bimmers are available and a bit less the M3) however it comes with an amazing warranty and awesome aftermarket has popped up. I would also consider a very clean E36 m3, being that I would take less of a hit mileage wise.
One big factor to keep in mind is that I will be driving around 60 miles a day 5 days a week for work and the roads aren't exactly forgiving on my route, so nothing rare/fragile. That also rules out a lease, not that I've ever been a big fan of them.
Summary:
135i new euro delivery(33k)
335i used 25-30k
E46 M3 used 17k-25k
Genesis Coupe New 23k

I would go with a used M3 over the others. The resale value will be much better when you do want to offload it as it already took a major hit in price.
Plus M3s are fun as all hell.
If you were going to modify it more I'd say the Genesis, but if not I think the others are better options. I'm all about the Genesis, but a Genesis with exhaust/tune/wheels will be way less fun than the equivalent Bimmer (IMO.)
My vote is for used 335i. For some reason I just don't like E46 M3s, sorry to anyone who owns one, they just never got me the same way any of the other generations do. Plus, stock turbos and newer is almost always the way to go.
Have you looked at the new Evos? A little more expensive but damn they're nice. Not the same style as the Bimmers though.
Actually, just get this; FS: NY: '93 MAZDA RX7 (built LS1) - NASIOC
I love my 335...with the procede its a monster. You're welcome to take it for a spin whenever..

PK still has his M3, not activiely selling, but still for sale, but i'm sure he would drop it at a very decent price for you.

I would say 335, Plus now they have a 10yr/120k warranty on the hpfp, so you can pick up a used one worry free.
I am loving mine, I just threw in a Procede V3 rev2 and a AFE Intake, and its a monster, plus I have been able to get 26-28mpg on the highway.
Then on the other hand, the Euro delivery is a unforgettable experience. I am already planning my next ED.

Yeah because you'll probably go through 10 HPFPs in that timeframe. I haven't had it yet but I know it's coming. Oh well, it's worth it.
The Rev II really kicks ass. I love the power!

anyone know someone trying to get rid of a 6-speed 335 coupe? I was pretty set when I made the post but it really put me over the edge reading all this.
I would love to find a white/black with red but for the right price I won't be too picky:p

Oh man, you're about 6 months too late. DeSimone had a beatiful white on red 6pd that they were GIVING away cause it had been sitting on the lot so long. AFAIK it's long gone.
I'll check what they have though, we practically share a parking lot with them at work.

I wouldn't mind a 335 6 speed 4 door after I get bored with the M3 sedan I have.
