View Full Version : BMW M3 vs M6

O.k. I am just about fully convinced, thanks in no small part to seeing the BMW's perform in past AKA's that my next car will be German. The only question now is, which one. As the M6 looks like it is an absolute beast, so is the price tag, and the payments that accompany it. The new M3 looks to have the new 8 cylinder 420 hp rated engine that will be compared to the new Mercedes S63 AMG, which from what I understand is no joke. So the question is this to the German auto fans among us.
For the price difference from the M3 to the M6, is it really worth the $40K difference, or should I perhaps stay with the M3 concept (that comes out some time in September) as my option?
Thoughts? Comments?
I'm kinda digging the M3 with a $40K less price tag.

A boat with 500 HP. Just found out that it is going to be March before the 2008 M3's are going to be in. A far cry from the projected date of September this year that is all over the information boards. Damn, and I wanted a new car.

M3 is nice, but the M6 is better. Same 500 h.p engine as in my M5. The only thing is the price to play is high and it will depreciate like a mother fucker. i believe BMW is offering a 3500 discount if you get it by the end of october i believe. I have the coupon at home if you want. But you can negotiate at least another 3500-4500 off on top of that. They aren't moving as well as bmw thought so there is a small surplus of them. You can negotiate that car pretty well or even better is to lease it.

haha. Djgofuckyourself.
But,I absolutely loved, loved the m3. It wasn't too big, but damn its fast and handles well.

You should be able to get a great deal on an 07 M6. I drove a manual version the other day and wasn't really impressed. 500 BMW hp don't feel like 500 Italian or American hp. If you spec a new one, get European delivery and save 7-11%. Just get a Gallardo.

After going thru a professional race drivers SCCA course, I have decided that I am going to stay with the corvette. Have looked at several, doing battle with many a sales person, and I think this is the one I am going to get.

My Car weights 4240 lbs. with me in it. Thats why 500 bmw h.p doesn't feel like 500 italian h.p Low on torque too.
Besides isn't Gallardo V10 base on an Audi, or is it reversed?

500hp might not feel like 500hp else where.
But Nick's run of 12.6@114mph in a bone stock m5 (first time at the track) speaks volumes of the car's power. 4,000lbs.+ running these numbers straight from the factory is amazing.

Yea, I doubt I will be doing that again... Too much money into the car at this point.
Putting a new carbon fiber body on the car now... not sure I would want to risk this now.

Considering it tops out at 78mph in 2nd, I think you'll be voiding that warranty with a nice Type 2 over-rev.

The Turbo S model seems to be a super bad seller. I think they way overpriced that car.

Yea....to say the least....it dropped at around 120k for around 60 more hp
Especially b/c you can get a regular turbo for 85k and spend 2k for the GIAC ECU which brings the car up 60hp.....
