Updated: January 12, 2009

BlownEuros is currently working on securing the location for this years event. Multiple places have been contacted and as soon as we have the location set it will be announced.

The tentative date for the event will be on Sunday April 5th from ~ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

As soon as details begin to be secured they will be released here, as well as on the main BlownEuros site and our new fundraising/ event site, BlownEurosSupports.com

yeah, just did a motor swap on it a couple weeks ago, but that motor is only firing on 2 cylinders...so it's time for some head work, new rings, and pistons.....and the Squareback WILL be painted in time for this year's GTG!!!!

the wife will be rollin' in the her cabby which will also be done in time!!!! her car is further along than mine right now!

So do we have a Date for the GTG this year? and is that aerial shot from the same location as last year? or did i miss something...new location???

update....

lauren finally got the corrected letter to josh. also here are a few notes

Ok, I already got an e-mail back from XXX (one of the directors) she is extremely excited and enthusiastic about the event!!!!! One of the other girls I volunteer with already picked up a third-party contract from the shelter which is basically a blank form that you fill in which jsut states that the American Red Cross is allowing you to use their name in roder to collect donations.

and we also got this

Michelle forwarded your e-mail to me and I want to thank you for your interest in raising funds for the American Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter. Because of the dedication and commitment of volunteers like you, we can continue to provide vital services to our neighbors. A car show is such a unique idea! What kind of cars do you guys feature?

I need to have an agreement on file in order to send a letter to (location). It protects both of us and allows me to talk about the event to outside organizations ((Location) and any media outlets). It also lets me lend you our logo to use for your marketing materials. It sounds much harsher than it really is (lawyers have a way of making everything sound mean), but I need whoever is running the car show to read over it and fill in the highlighted areas. After I have a signed copy, I will send a letter to whoever you need me to and help you in whatever way I can.

I should have the 3rd party contract monday or tuesday at the latest, and its just a matter of getting the last parts of the paperwork to go after the (location)

Once we set a date I will contact the radio station to get that lined up.

Its gonna be HUGE . PT can we make this private so we can talk about more...

letter's are completed. I am reaching out to the red cross to see if I need to deliver these or if I can fax them over today. ok well we pretty much have things sorted. all we need is the location set on the first sunday in april. can't do it the second weekend becaust show and go is usually the second weekend in april.

also...

-need to get the design to the shirt and sweatshirt to jeff
-start with sponsors for the tshirts as well as the show to cut down costs
-start cutting some special edition blowneuroz gtg stickers. have to think of a color and get a roll of it.

Sean K.

also I want to put a huge red cross on my car....if its done

MOFO

a street sign work and will be somewhat easy.

a red cross on your car would be easy if you ever start your car.

Street sign is very played out for automotive logos... I'd go with something else.

J.Owen
12-09-2008, 11:59 PM
I am actually trying to do something based off of the red cross since thats who we're supporting. I could rock the red cross on the rabbit as well .... would make a little ambulance. might have to do something different for the beetle.

edit: I want to do this all over the rabbit...

Also, I was talking with my brother last night and we both thought it might be a good idea to do some presale of admission. Ryan offered to sponsor the event and purchase the actually printing of the numbered tickets, which would double as their raffle ticket. This would help us have some funds to buy food and cover insurance, etc. ahead of time, as well as possibly help us predict the number of people.

Sean K.
12-10-2008, 10:31 AM
that would look sick, and the presale idea is money

MOFO
12-10-2008, 06:05 PM
for the gtg it would be cool to have a few of our cars (red or white) to be at the red cross area with that vinyl theme on it.

presale is a great idea. we could make up some nice rip off tickets to then collect at the show and it would also give us a count for the number of cars this upcoming year. should we do it through a personal paypal or what? lets get on that so we don't run out of time.

i actually like that BlownEuroz Supports. lets get a banner made up. it will be easy, just order the size material we want and cut some vinyl to lay on it.

most importantly, josh any word back from sesame place? that one kid yocoop on vortex said he works there and may have a good contact and he could also prob put a good word in for us.

J.Owen
12-10-2008, 08:38 PM
UPDATE:

1) Rip off tickets will be done and all or mostly paid for by Brothers In Arms Design as a form of sponsorship. These will be sequentially numbered so these will also double as the raffle tickets and will keep from having to walk around and sell them throughout the day.

2) Forms have been returned to the American Red Cross and I have the letter from Danielle which shows their support for this event and also gives a red cross contact for sesame place in case they have questions.

3) I spoke with Andrew (yocoop) and he gave me the contact info for the woman at Sesame Place we need to contact. The packet will be in the mail tomorrow morning and on its way to Sesame. I am going to let Andrew know as well so he can give a heads up and put in a good word for us.

4) Spoke to Dave Kennedy at PVW and he feels that they could definitely helps us as far as getting some coverage in the mag. He was unsure if Him and Elliot would be able to make it, but they might send one of their photographers, or least we could take care of it. Either way it will get in the mag.

5) I also sent off photos from last year as well as some info. Dave wants to put BlownEuroz in their "Site of the Month" section and some info about the GTG.

OTHER:

We could definitely do that theme on the cars and I think it would be pretty cool if we all did it. I could do the rabbit and the beetle. I have some silver and also some brushed aluminum vinyl which could be used. I would be willing to do the Rabbit early as a way to promote the event.

We could use the "BlownEuroz Supports" theme, but that logo may have already been shot done. Danielle said the Red Cross is fairly picky about their logo and I have a feeling that may be a little too close for comfort. I am going to send her a copy tomorrow so she can see it, but I wouldn't want to piss them off while they are trying to help us. She is, however, going to send me their real logo so we can use it on items as well as the rules regarding its usage.

Thats all for now.

MOFO
12-10-2008, 10:07 PM
ok that is sick, then there will be a spot on the back of the tshirt for "brothers in arms". tell ryan thanks.

yeah we have to make sure that nothing, i mean nothing happens bad this year if we get this spot. people can do whatever they want off the property, but on it they have to respect us and the property owner.

PVW is going to be cool, they have always been interested in us and i guess now they are going to be coming through.

hopefully they will be ok with us using the theme on the car, we could get started on your rabbit and/or beetle as a promotional car for the event.

soooo, as I assumed, the BlownEuroz Supports logo was shot down by the red cross. Danielle, admitted that she liked it, but that national would probably have her head if we used it. So its back to the drawing board. Today should be a slow day at work so I am hoping to have something before the end of the day.

as for the cars, I am sure we could get away with using the silhouettes as its an old campaign. One thing we have to keep in mind, if we do use the red cross logo anywhere, it has to be on a white background ... so we won't be able to mention red cross on most of the cars. Simply the design and maybe a link to a website.

does everyone like the "BlownEuroz Supports" theme? if so, i'll buy the domain so we can use it.

i really like it, but maybe put a silhouette of on of the guys leaning on a car or something car related since it is a car site. for the sweatshirt lets just keep the logo on the front, but on the shirts that will be made for the gtg we have to have the logo on the front and the sponsors on the back.

def pick up that site, then we can make an email and paypal account off of that for people to send donations etc...

we should def put the red cross with the BE cut out on cars, they can't get mad at us for that.

any word from sesame?

i'll make some revisions to the logo on Monday. There should be no problem using that one since it really is not their logo at all and was simply pulled from a short ad campaign done a few years ago.

I plan to call Sesame on Monday as they should have the letter by then and should have been able to read it over. I would like to get something moving before the holidays, but to be honest it might be a little difficult since a lot of people take off and this really is a hard time to do stuff like this. Hopefully we can get in there though.

I bought "blowneurozsupports.com" and will begin working on that on Monday as well. It would be nice to get something going and then we can simply add the necessities as we start getting information for the event.

Lauren and i helped volunteer today at the homeless shelter that we will be donating to. That logo should be fine since it really isn't a logo of theirs. I am gonna work on it a little to get some car related stuff in there as well which will remove it even more from their logo. Once its done I will send over a video ready file for you to use.

I will be at meetings in Downingtown and Newark until about noon but I plan to call after that and see if Shari was able to speak with the GM about the event.

As an update for everyone else, I spoke with the rep from Sesame yesterday and she was really nice to talk to and seemed enthusiastic about the event. Unfortunately she doesn't make the final decision and she said it really comes down to how the GM is feeling when you approach him with an event. The rep was going to do whatever she could to try and convince her GM to allow the event it said it definitely wasn't beyond reason and felt we did have a fairly good chance of getting this done.

Very valid question

Hold the train. The proposal came through and I need to get on the phone with the rep and discuss a few things about the proposal. I'll give everyone the details once I get a conversation going about it ... but sesame isn't set yet.

Any clues as to the outstanding issue w/ said proposal?

they somehow went from "you might need to cover the cost of an extra security guard" to "there is a $5,000 fee for the event and Sesame would do all of the food vending for their own profit"

... not cool.

hmmm they most likely just realize we really want the location and are trying to milk as much as they can out of it. It kinda sucks cause the event would be a nice marketing tool for themselves just a few months before they open for the season. Try to sell it from that angle

tried and tried. She has a few hundred dollars wiggle room and max could come down to $4500. The way I look at it. Even if we charged $5 a car and got 500 cars, thats only $2500 gross before we pay for insurance, food, port-a-potties, trash bags, etc. So we would lose a ton of money ... before we even made a donation to the American Red Cross. Which makes the reality that in that situation we would be better off just giving the money to the red cross rather then Sesame.

I haven't sent another response to the rep yet ... but i'm about to pull it from them.

We Need To Find A New Location!

looking into another now. giving the place a call and hopefully it won't be a problem. it just sucks that we waited the whole vacation time for sesame then they screwed us.

No good - especially since they must realize we'd be donating any proceeds to the Red Cross. Capitalism being what it is...

What sort of place do you have in mind PT

well, PT has a line on what could be a really good location as well so we'll see what happens with that. I think in the interim we should also get the info from last year as a fall back location since we know how that went down. With some better organization and preperation I think last years location could work again, but it would be tight.

Certainly Josh, we did fill the ENTIRE lot last year, minus the small back section behind the building where the dumpsters were. But there were cars parked there as well!

i realize that. Its obviously not our #1 location as we are trying other venues. I am simply stating it might be a good back-up. I would rather secure that as well as another location, then be running around 2 weeks before trying to find a location.

no, it will be known if we get approved.

It might be good to know ahead whats being attempted so that people can come up with ideas on how to improve it. Don't say I don't offer to help.

some ideas....

Parking Garage to a company that's closed on weekends...Wyeth, GlaxoSmithKline, SEI along 422.

Dorney Park, Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland--the lot filled with german cars--brilliant!, Reading Phillies Stadium,

Fairgrounds--where places have Fairs/shows in the summer---Kimberton, Kutztown, Devon/Malvern, etc etc. That big lot off of 422 Oaks exit along the river.

Large Cemeteries....

...Graterford Prison

...i'll stop before things get crazy

MOFO

those places are good, but just to far away from us since we need to run back and fourth to my garage and the location swapping cars, etc...

we hopefully have a place and getting it settled out next week.

Hey
Just got the email about the site name change. I know I'm not really in the loop, and/or most of you probably don't even know me. That being said, if there's anything I can do to help out, in preparation for or the day of, shoot me an email.

i'm gonna get the new domain and start the updating of BlownEuros Supports. Hopefully I should have it all up and running by the end of tomorrow with all of the info, galleries, etc. I will look into how to handle the ticket purchase and donations as well.

PT, do you have a seperate account for BlownEuros? I remember Nick flashing some plastic at one point.

Anyone available tomorrow morning to head over to reedman's with me. Tricia would like to meet with us to look at the lot and review how things could be laid out to best support the show and protect the existing cars on the lot.
