Default Anyone else in California planning on shipping thier vehicle?

If anyone can help figure this out.

I'm leaving from June 17th~July 13th.

If I ship my Volvo out a day or two after I get home, It is expected to arrive in Jacksonville FL (my relatives place) about the 29th of July. Thats a bit too close for comfort. The quote was from DAS.

If anyone else is comming from the West, I'd be interesting to see if I could leave my car with a fellow AKA to take on transport.

I've gotten pricing of about 900~1000. FedEx Critical is about 1900.

Hrm, that might actually work.

I don't have my true departure driving dates set quite yet.

But how about you? Any idea when you planning on leaving TX?

If you do ship, I would NOT recommend to ship though DAS. I had a friend that had his car shipped with them and it took 2 weeks longer then they promised.

Yeah, I can toally see that happening. For some reason the way the shipping industry is setup through brokers, and bidders... is just downright scary if your on any kind of time frame.

Bascially to me the process goes:

1. Broker decides round number from their ass crack. If the number is too high, I lose money, and they profit since they'll get the lowest bidder to take the car. If the quote is too low, no one will pick up my car and it'll be sitting here for weeks and I'll see result 10.
2. Broker finds desperate truck driver to drive at the lowest cost.
3. Truck driver is mad that he's not getting paid SHIT.
4. Truck driver beats up car on and off the truck.
5. Truck driver feels like doing whatever.
6. I yell at broker.
7. Broker gives me truck drivers info and cellphone
8. Truck driver gives me 203948234 excuses
9. Truck driver tells me to fuck off.
10. I miss the AKA rally.
11. I cry a little.

The FedEx way is the way to go but its 1600~1700 plus the cost of my plane ticket.

Id rather just take it slow and drive.

When I sold my 05 Legacy GT, they new owner had it shipped and it was smooth as silk transaction with the shipping company. I will get the name of the company for you tomorrow. I think it was $750-$800 from MN in Oregon, and made it there in 3 days from pickup. The whole process took less then a week from first setting it up.

Or you could just drive. It will make it there in time, and in one piece, that is what I am planning on doing.

When I tried getting my corvette shipped from Buffalo NY to Houston Tx it was the biggest mess ever. I wanted covered shipping with the nice loading ramp because my car is way too low to get on a regular car shipping truck. Well the truck ended up being about a month late to pick up the car so I canceled it and just had my father trailer the car here with his truck and I paid him.

Even when I called to cancel they gave me the biggest line of shit. They wouldn't refund my money so I canceled it through my CC and got all of it back. FGGTS

You guys should see if Chris has anything planned.

A dedicated trailer for the event is the best guarantee you can get on timely transport unless you use a reputable company which can cost easily upwards of $2000+ cross country.

The cheaper you pay the more brokers that are involved. Most of these people only give you a time frame and nothing is guaranteed 100% with this type of transport.

It would suck to be stuck at the starting point with no car.

I drove out to the west coast from NY on both the 2006-2007 rallies. If you have the time it's a great road trip with stops in between to check out the country.
