Whats up everyone my name is j0n, 20 yrs old, and can't wait to participate on a rally. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to afford this year's rally nor get the required time off from work. I was wondering if there was any possibility of a "mini" rally, maybe 4 days instead of 7, with the price reflecting that change?
Anywho, I'm still very interested in doing an AKA rally in the future with my '88 Iroc, which is currently a 305TPI with an ATI intercooled procharger + some other stuff here and there. And for anyone with any f-body related questions I've ripped my fair amount of them apart and would be glad to help
That's about it and I hope to meet some of you at some point in the near-ish future.
Here's a quick shot of the 'roc:

haha i'd say 390/420 at the wheels is far from weak...but yes there's a forged 355 being built at my buddy's shop as we speak, which will be bolted up to a t56 that I just pulled out of my 95z28 parts car

Now that is what I am talking about. The 305 is a pile, just too small for a "modern" sbc. The 355 will be a great upgrade.
Nick
I hope so...the plan is less compression than stock(we're pretty much just in the planning/aquiring parts phase), forged crank, forged pistons, forged rods, a very mild blower cam, and ported canfield heads. I plan on retaining the TPI setup for the dyno but if it runs out of steam up top I'll go with the converted LT1 intake I have. Other than that I'm going to retain the same blower setup(13psi intercooled procharger) and shoot for 500/500 on 89 octane
as for the rally I just noticed the age limit, but also that there are exceptions to be made. Are the stops alot of 21+ nightclubs and nudey bars? Or would an underage kid be able to get into most of the parties and just not be allowed to drink? Due to a couple good financial moves on my part I can probably swing it this year if I can find a co-pilot but I don't want to spend the (estimated) 5 grand and be dissapointed

the setup i have planned should make well over my 500hp target on 93, and i just think it would be cool to be able to tune it down a touch and still reach the goal on 89...and save a couple bucks on gas in the meantime. if it becomes too much of a challenge ill just say eff it and go 93

ok ok ill be honost...i saw that there was the possibility of only having 89 octane on the '07 rally so i figured id try and get it to run on that...my old trans am never saw anything but 93

You mean you missed the 89 octane crap we ran on in Wyoming and the state before that in '06?
That shity ass gas was figured to be one of the main contributors to my engine blowing.. That and the high altitude...
Always carry a few bottles of octane booster in the car. It can save you from these problems.

Octane booster is a bunch of crap, it raises octane .07 of a point, do you know how many bottles it would take to bring that up to a meaningful number? You'd be better off carrying a 5 gallon jug of C16 and dumping a few gallons in on each stop to bring the level up.

Alicia, trust me, we've done a bunch of testing, you're better off with cans of Xylene from Home Depot than conventional octane booster. It's like pouring a medicine cup of C16 into your tank, really.

You just gotta find the right octane booster, you can't use the stuff they sell at the gas station, you need to find the additives that turn regular high octane gas into race fuel. You could also look for small airports along the way, they sell whats known as 100ll (low lead, it has a lead additive) its a 104 octane gas that is used in piston powered aircraft. Not as clean as regular gas, but in a pinch it will do.

So uhh, searching for aircraft fuel, magical octane booster, carry a jug of C16, or buy a gallon of xylene from every hardware store in the country.....
