I have to say, e39 and e60 m5's are the ultimate cross country rally cars.

Jeff, you sick bastard!
We really missed you this year. I only made it out for the first two days but the drive out of Salt Lake was ridiculous.

Hi guys/gals, I just completed the 2007 Great American Run (aka the Cannonball) in an E39 M5. Chrisaka posted to one of my threads on M5board.com and I googled his rally and found this site. Any word on the 2008 event. My brother, I, and the M5 are very interested in competing.
here's a vid on the rally- my M5 against one of the cannonball Saleen Extreems

So the great American run did happen. I was told that it was a bust like the Navigators Run. How many cars were there?

I think there was about 100 cars (42 or so started from miami and 50 or so started from NYC). To be honest the organizers were very hush hush about the number of cars. The scoring of the event was a whole other fiasco. We did have a ball, however, and thats really all we cared about.

Glad you had a good time man.
I had a buddy (Scott & Eric in the Charger) they said they had a good time, but definitely had issues with the scoring.

Welcome! I'd love to have you guys next year.
Speaking of competing, I'm actually toying with the idea of incorporating a cash prize next year, although it most certainly will not be for the order of arrival at each stop. I'm working through a few creative possibilities that will make it fun (and potentially profitable) for each team without losing the cool, laid-back good time that everyone inevitable has on these events.
You should post some photos of your beast!
Chris

Poker Run style is a possibility pick up a card at each stop and the person with the best hand at the end of the rally wins?

It's a cool idea but it's done so much. I'm going for something exciting and unique. Thank you for the input though.
